What is PM SVANidhi Yojana?

The PM SVANidhi Yojana (Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor’s Atmanirbhar Nidhi) is a micro-credit program designed for street vendors and small traders who were affected by the COVID-19 lockdown. Many vendors faced severe income loss during that period, and the government’s goal was to help them restart their businesses with financial assistance.

Under this scheme, beneficiaries can receive loans in three phases, with the amount increasing after each successful repayment. This not only helps vendors sustain their business but also encourages them to maintain a good repayment record.

Objectives of the PM SVANidhi Scheme

The major goals of this scheme are:

  • To provide collateral-free working capital loans to street vendors.
  • To encourage digital transactions and reward those who make payments online.
  • To promote financial inclusion through direct credit access to unorganized vendors.
  • To improve credit scores and help vendors become eligible for higher loans in the future.
  • To build self-reliance (Atmanirbharta) among small traders and daily earners.

The PM SVANidhi Scheme targets vendors who run small-scale businesses in urban and semi-urban areas. The following individuals are eligible:

Applicants must also have:

  • A valid certificate of vending issued by the local authority (Municipality/Panchayat).
  • Or, proof of having conducted vending activity before or during the lockdown.

Loan Amount Under PM SVANidhi Yojana
